With many years experience in performing driver medicals and specialist training and certification in aviation medical assessments, I’m experienced in assessing fitness for high-responsibility roles - giving you confidence your medical is thorough, fair, and efficient.


You will need an ML5 medical certificate if you fall into any of the following roles:


Master of a passenger vessel that operates in inland waters only (Class IV or V)


Master of a commercial vessel that does not go to sea


Crew member or master of a fishing vessel under 24 metres


Master or crew working on a small commercial vessel certified for
Area Categories 2–6 (operating up to 60 miles from a safe haven)

Crew or onboard staff (including roles such as catering) regularly working on a
seagoing domestic passenger vessel (Class VI or VIA)


Applying for, renewing, or updating an MCA Boatmaster’s Licence or certificate


Applying for a Royal Yacht Association (RYA) commercial endorsement to work on coded vessels

What to expect

Appointments are straightforward and typically take around 30 minutes.

If you're fit for duty, your paperwork will be completed promptly so you can to work without delay.
